Domaine des Cottereaux 2008 Review
Sancerre AOC

Grapes: Sauvignon Blanc 100%
Country: France
Appellation: Sancerre AOC
Alcohol: 12.5%
Style: Dry
Sancerre lies on the left bank of the upper Loire and, along with Puilly-Fume, is renowned for its bone dry refreshing, herbaceous, and flinty whites, made purely from Sauvignon Blanc.
This vibrant white was made at Domaine des Cotteraux which is situated at a prime site in Sancerre and has been in the Reverdy family for two generations. Jean Marie Vardy inherited the property from his father and has since developed the initial 5 hectares into a 12 hectare estate, complete with a brand new winery.
Pale gold colour with a fine racy nose of citrus and white flowers. Crisp, rich and beautifully balanced with lime and gooseberry flavours and a subtle minerally edge. Enjoy as an apéritif or with grilled fish, this would be perfect for sipping on a summers evening as a precursor to a BBQ.
This vibrant white is delicious to drink now, but may develop further complexity over the next 2-3 years. Drink by the end of 2013.
Domaine des Cottereaux 2008 Sancerre can be purchased individually from Laithwaites or can be purchased as part of their Laithwaites Cellar Classics wine club.
