Pagos de Tahola is from bodega Larchago – a family business ion rioja Alvesa, founded in 1968. Two generations of the Chavarrai family, family Fransisco and daughter Ruth run the estate with assistance from winemaker Miguel Lopez Nunez.

The bodega is built on the site of an older estate founded at the end of the 19th Century, Bodega Chavarris. While the old bodega has been preserved, a new winery has been built alongside. Here the latest winemakers of Larchago can combine the best of tradition with the benefits of modern technology. This can certainly be felt in the excellent quality wines coming from this winery.

The house style displays marvellous fruit from vines grown in some of riojas highest vineyards, framed by careful maturation in high-quality French and American oak barrels.

This elegant and complex Reserva was aged in barrel and bottle before release which has meant that it's soft enough to enjoy on its own or with meat such as Chicken. It also lends itself to tomato and garlic, garlic mushrooms, stuffed peppers or any other tapas style dishes.

After a decade of mellow aging this mature red wine is drinking very well now and will continue to do so for the next couple of years. Will be at its best up to the end of 2012.

Pagos de Tahola Reserva de la Famila 1999 can be purchased individually from Laithwaites or can be purchased as part of their Laithwaites Cellar Classics wine club.
