Villa Broglia 2008 Review

Gavi di Gavi DOCG

Villa Broglia 2008 Gavi Di Gavi
Grapes: Cortese 100%
Country: Italy
Appellation: Gavi di Gavi DOCG
Alcohol: 12.5%
Style: Dry

Piedmont is one of Italy most famous wine regions. In fact, it is home to more DOCG wines – 7 in total – than anywhere else in the country. The appellation lies in the northwest of Italy and is best known for producing the top reds Barolo and Barbaresco. Dolcetta also features prominently there. Its finest white wine, however, is Gavi, made from the Cortese grape, and has become renowned the world over for its elegance and finesse.

This is a most elegantly white, best served with food. The colour is typical of the grape and the aroma fragrant and rich with hints of lime and gooseberry. It will be great with grilled white fish a whole range of seafood, fennel or courgette flower risotto, artichokes with a lemon vinaigrette (always a tricky one) or white meats with a creamy lemon sauce.

This wine is perfect for enjoying now, and will continue to be at its peak until the end of 2011.

Villa Broglia 2008 Gavi di Gavi can be purchased individually from Laithwaites or can be purchased as part of their Laithwaites Cellar Classics wine club.
