This superb oak-aged Shiraz is the flagship wine of acclaimed Warburn Estate in New South Wales. Head winemaker Sam Trimboli wins literally hundreds of medals every year for his skills in the cellar, and reserves the Warburn Estate label for his best wines.
The Warburn Estate lies in the Riverina region and unlike many of teh cellars in teh area which have been taken over by larger wineries, Warburn has remained family-run and continues to grow in reputation.
This is a well-structured red wine, with firm tannins generously covered by its luscious ripe fruit. For now, its best served with food - a venison caserole, simple roast beef or a leg of lamb. Less meaty options might include a mushroom, chestnut and red wine casserole. Preferably let wine breathe ina decanter for 30 minutes before serving.
Warburn estate Oak-Aged Shiraz 2009 can be purchased individually from Laithwaites or can be purchased as part of their Discovery wine plan wine club.
